The Condorde Rally. 23rd to 25th of September.
Friday morning started early for me, 8 am and I find myself lugging half the world, or so it seemed into the car. By 9 I was off, heading towards Chippenham. Still I was glad of the early start when I had my tent up and was sat reading the paper enjoying a coffee in total peace and quiet in glorious sunshine. Half an hour passed before a few of the other committee members turned up and we managed to get the check in area set up just in time for the first arrivals. Of course, it wasn’t long before people started arriving. A trickle at first that turned into what appeared to be a tidal wave by mid afternoon As you can see the field was filling up nicely as was the clubhouse upstairs where you may be surprised to learn that quite a few seemed to be enjoying a pint or three. As afternoon became evening our resident DJ, Lee took up his position and very soon a large proportion of the rally goers were dancing the night away. Before we knew it the early hours were upon us and day one was over. In the morning as with every other rally things began slowly. More people arrived on site and before we knew it, it was time for the ride out. Not sure of the exact amount but it looked like around 25 bikes poured out of the site and when they came back a few hours later they appeared to have enjoyed themselves. On Saturday evening we were entertained by The Gecoblasters and once again the room was rocking. As is our way we stopped half way through the evening to do the raffle, (£405 raised for the Children's Hospice South West, (thanks Bex and Deni) and give out the prizes. They're all shown below in the pictures. After the awards the band resumed their set and the dance floor was soon full again. We all (Well ok, not me) danced the night away before staggering back to the tents for a well deserved nights kip. Sunday at a rally is, to me at least a sad day. Bit by bit, tents disappear and bikes roll out of the site to wind their way back home. Still I must admit that though we all mourn the end of each rally we attend I am sure you all agree that it’s still great to get home and sleep in a real bed again. Would I do it again. Of course I would. Bring on Concorde 2017.
