The Condorde Rally. 22nd to 24th of September.
On route to the 42nd Concorde rally the weather was a bit cloudy but no rain was forecast so it was great for getting the tents up. By Friday night the field was filling up with tents and the club house was seeing plenty of beer beginning to flow and all this was accompanied by some great sounds from Lee our resident DJ. Saturday morning began slowly and rather more quietly than Friday had ended (Can’t think why), The sun had come out for us and it was time to sort out the afternoon ride out. Sadly runs captain Max was having trouble with his ride so Malcolm took over as lead; I was middle man and Mark filled the role of back marker. Over 25 bikes, many connected up with our new intercoms rode out of the site and I am sure that being in contact with each other helped to successfully keep everybody together on the ride down to Salisbury, In the town we followed our noses till we found the source of the wonderful smell. Meat and veg rapped in giant Yorkshire puddings, suitably fed it was now time to go back to camp. Our thanks go to Max for arranging the ride and Malcolm and Mark for making sure we got there in one piece. A good time was had by all and everyone got back safe and sound. Thankfully when we returned Max was also back after a trip to the dealers where they had managed to fix his bike. Saturday night “Black Rose” entertained us. They are a relatively new band and my god were we glad we had booked them, they were excellent. During their break we held the raffle and gave out the awards. These were as follows. Furthest distance ridden (Female) Emma, (174 miles). Furthest distance ridden (Male) Mats (966 miles). Best Meriden, Nick (Speed twin), Best Hinckley, Gary, (Thunderbird 900), People’s choice, Nick once more with his Speed Twin, Branch Club Person, Bex and Best Branch Turnout, Birmingham and Wolves. The night seemed to be enjoyed by everyone and we are pleased to be able to say that £496.13 was raised for the Children Hospice Southwest. Thank you all for your generosity. Sunday was as usual a sad day, as the tents came down and bit by bit the field emptied and people made their weary way home. Many thanks to the staff at Chippenham Cricket Club for all their hard work and thanks to all that sorted the rally out, can't wait till next year.
