Hoggin the Bridge. 8th October.
At an ungodly hour in the morning seven of us on six bikes met up in Downend and headed off to Aust services to join up with a few more club members. Trouble was there were a reported 6,800 people there and we quickly realized that there was no chance of finding them. But wait! There’s one, oh and there’s a few more, blimey the rest are just over there. Miracles do happen we have found everyone. After an hour or so of chatting while more and more poured into the services the time had come. We were off. To Hog the Bridge. And what a sight it was. As each of us passed through the toll booths all that could be seen were hundreds of bikes ahead. Half way across the bridge and the view in front was the same but now the scene behind was nothing but bikes as well. It was incredible. A few of us decided during one of the many stops that we would nip in to see Paul and Deni as they lived so close, so off we went to scrounge a free coffee before heading off to Tintern Abbey for the final leg of the day. Here the obligatory burgers (for a club day out) were consumed while sat outside in the glorious sunshine that was present the entire day. A nice blast along some great twisty roads on the way home made for the perfect end to a truly wonderful day. Our thanks go to the organisers and “Hoggin the Bridge” 2018, I can’t wait.
