Lyme Regis. 12th-June.
Arranged by Mark, I believe myself suggested the venue, as it hadn't been done in a while, we met at the Cross Hands, this is a ride with a difference. So this ride contains a short, medium, long and super long ride. 15 bikes, a fantastic turn out, not everyone wants to be out all day but some of us are willing to be sat in the saddle for hours, so we hope this covers it.7 headsets spread though out the group. We leave the Cross hands turning on to the A46 head towards Petty France, turning on to the A433 towards Tetbury, On Getting there Mark takes us for a guided tour of Tetbury carpark causing a bit of confusion and separation in the group, the carpark wasn't anything special but we were soon corrected and back on track, heading down the B4014 following back routes, heading up to Spine Rd East but as we go through Minety, thinking to myself you must be minted to live in Minety. I look down and release my sat Nav is not where it should be, it's in my pocket and not recording the trip, so sorry exact route is vague, but we ended up at our first pit stop, the Coltswold Water Park. To be exact, the Gateway Cafe, 55 min approx.
Coffee and food later a good old chin wag, and a discussion and alterations on how the headset where be used as not all vital info was getting sent forward to lead rider due to the spread of bikes over distance and chit chat would block out the back marker, as the headset, use the other headsets in group to bounce signal forward. 1hr 10 later, my Sat Nav firmly in its holder and recording, headset etiquette in place, we head out, turning right on to Spine Road East heading back the way we came, staying on that route instead of turning off the way we came up, and followed that to the A429, turning right up towards Kemble, and passing all the planes parked up, at Kemble we cut across Windmill Road, joining the A433 following that back to Tetbury, out the other side to and back down the A46 to the Cross Hands which is the break off point for the short ride. At this point Andy A, Liz, Paul, Joanna, Steve and Rachel make their way home. A brief stop at the Cross Hands to check Andy A was ok as he got stung and is allergic, he made his way home as a safe precaution. It was Liz’s first proper ride out with us, and she was nervous about it, but she looked comfortable riding with us, hope to see you on more soon, and Paul, Joanna becoming regulars great to have you with us again, Steve and Rachel, same for you The rest of then us head out of the carpark and up the A4040 towards Acton Turville, on to the A4039 following that till the A420 and our next pitstop, the donkey burger (Marks name for it) stand at bumpers farm. 1 HR 12 min, 41 miles, medium ride complete, more chat and more eating, we now lose a few more, Mike H, Darren, Mike Brice, Mike Evans it was great ride, thanks to Mike Brice and Mike Evans for joining us, hope to see you on more soon, we did have a horn comparing moment, sorry Dave you lose, it came up in conversation so had to be done, that over we part our ways.
So now it's Mark, Shirley, Jan, Dave, Andy T, Mike M, and myself. It could have been the end of story but! I mentioned Cheddar Gorge. Every one said yes ,so now I'm lead, so we head out dropping down a junction on A350 turning onto A4 following that all the way to Bath, up London Rd into Bath over to the A4, briefly stopping for myself to put that super expensive stuff in the bike tank, then follow that out of Bath, hitting the Globe roundabout, straight over on to A39 following that until it splits into the A368, following that down to Blagdon, turning left. I think this is when I heard Jan telling her bike off for being on the wrong side of the road, as I looked in the mirror, seeing she had taken the corner wide I did ask her what you doing over there? She said caught the corner wrong, but all was good now, following that road up to the B3143, missing the turn, I meant to go down ended turning on to the B3371 further down, then onto the B3135 the Gorge Rd following that down into Cheddar, parking up for a further tea break, it's busy but full of friendly bikers even before I got off the bike, I had a couple come up and chat. Tea over and chat time and it’s time to head out.
Mike M heads home towards Weston, thanks for joining us Mike, myself in lead again. Andy T behind Jan following, Mark and Shirley and Dave at the rear. We go back up the B3135 turning left onto the short cut and saying farewell to Mark and Shirley as we turn off and they continue on their super long trip to lyme Regis. We continue up the A37. Sat at lights waiting to turn right onto A39 there's this feeble noise in the air, it was Dave passing up the inside, blowing his horn as he went home saying goodbye, Dave I think a louder horn is required, lights turn green we continue back to Keynsham and when I hit the Marina the adventure ends for me. And the end of the long ride
Thanks everyone who joined in today, and for making it a great day.
Pete.

What better way to end the day with fish and chips In Lyme Regis. Thanks everyone for a great ride to today and I apologise for taking us into the car park at Tetbury. Also good to see new club members joining us today. Nice seeing and chatting to Ben Maddocks in Cheddar too.
