TOMCC Somerset & Dorset rally. 10th-12th May.
On Friday 10th of May Neal and I set of for the short journey down to Yeovil for the
2nd Somerset and Dorset Thruxton Treffen. Mike had told me that we would need our wet weather
gear as rain was forecast. In the event we managed to not only get there in the dry but
also get our tents sorted as well. Soon after our arrival Marcus turned up and
it wasn’t long before the three of us were enjoying a bite to eat in the club
house. As we had managed to secure some decent seats we decided to stay and wait
for the evening entertainment. It was a wait that was well worth it. Mid Life
Crises played a varied track list including some that were simply superb. We
were so impressed that they are now booked for the Concorde rally in September.
At some ungodly hour in the morning we finally made our way back to our tents,
still in the dry to try and get some much needed sleep. Saturday began as most
rally Saturdays begin. (Well for me at least) with a headache. Breakfast was
consumed before the rest of the branch arrived. Mike, Max, Alan, Lena, Martin,
Scott, Linda and Graham. A lazy day was spent catching up with friends, old and
new and before we knew it the evening was upon us and another band was setting
up. Sadly I can’t remember their name but another great evening was had by all.
Sadly on Sunday morning Neal found he had a problem with his left hand and was
unable to ride. Luckily Lena had come in her car and was able to drive him home
and Max and I managed to deliver his bike back as well so all was well in the
end. Our thanks go to Somerset & Dorset for running a great rally.
See you all next time.
