The Pig and Wheel. 23rd-January.
Arranged by Ray, we meet at Gordano services. Ray, Paul, Howard, Mark, Shirley and myself.
The adventure started straight away when Paul's bike decided to not start, after leaving it for five minutes, it started leaving us all scratching our heads.
Off we go, Ray taking the lead, leaving Gordano going towards Portbury, up mill lane then up to Clevedon Road, heading towards Bristol, dropping down flax Burton road and turning left at the end. We head towards the A370 straight over to Barrow Gurney up to the A38, turning right towards the airport, following that all the way down to Burnham where we turn on to the B3139, then, on to the B3141, the causeway, following that to the A39 turning left on to it and following it till we reach the Pig and Wheel.
Dale the host, is very biker friendly (And dog friendly if you should want to visit using four wheels) and looked after us well, nothing was too much trouble. After fantastic roast, puddings, coffees and teas we depart. At this point we lose Howard as he heads straight home, it was Howard's first ride with us, and we hope to see him on a few more. The rest of us needed a bit more riding so continued back the same route we came, till the A38 that is. Where we turned into Weston Super Mare and the joined the motorway. After Jumping on the M5 we came off at Clevedon. At that point we separate from Ray and Paul.
Mark, Shirley and I head towards Bristol via Tickenham, up to the A370 by Ashton Gate which is where we finally separate going our own way home.
Another excellent ride out and thanks to Ray for organising and his generosity at the end
78 miles and it was still day light when I got home.
Pete.
